Our bodies get tired. Our minds get tired. It just happens and you won’t avoid it. Sabbath is a gift from God and it’s up to you to receive that offer of rest. We can have, at best, a transactionally level relationship living a hurried life, but we won’t have close relationships. HH Farmer said, “hurry is not of the devil, it IS the devil”.
Serving and working is good, but it isn’t meant to be our identity. Intimacy and closeness takes time. We have to take time to be close with the Lord. He is always close to us, but when we are living hurried lives, we miss out on the most important relationship we will ever have.
